The Vultee Vengeance Mk.I was the initial production version of the V-72, a dedicated dive bomber designed in the United States but primarily operated by Commonwealth forces. The Mk.I featured the signature zero-incidence wing, which was optimized for a vertical dive, ensuring unparalleled bombing accuracy. Though initially intended for the RAF in Europe, the Vengeance found its true calling in the Burma Campaign. Its ability to deliver heavy payloads through the thick jungle canopy made it a vital asset for the Royal Air Force (RAF) and Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) against Japanese ground forces.

The Vultee Vengeance Mk.I (DW72023) in 1/72 scale captures the rugged, muscular silhouette of this often-overlooked hero of the Southeast Asian theater. Despite the smaller scale, Dora Wings has applied high-fidelity engineering to replicate the complex “broken-wing” geometry and the deep tandem cockpit that defined the Vengeance.
