The Dewoitine D.510 was the final and most powerful variant of the D.500 family, serving as the premier fighter of the French Armée de l’Air during the mid-1930s. It was a sophisticated all-metal monoplane featuring a fixed, spatted landing gear. Its defining technical feature was the Hispano-Suiza 12Ycrs liquid-cooled engine, which allowed a 20mm autocannon to fire directly through the propeller hub. While nearing obsolescence by 1940, the D.510 saw combat with the Chinese Air Force against Japan and served in regional defense units during the early stages of WWII.
