The Caudron C.635 Simoun was the final major production variant of the Simoun family. It featured an improved Renault 6Q-09 engine and aerodynamic refinements that made it one of the most efficient aircraft of the late 1930s. While it began as a high-end touring plane for the elite, the outbreak of WWII saw the French Air Force (Armée de l’Air) inducting hundreds of C.635s into service for liaison and VIP transport. Its sleek lines and speed even allowed it to serve as a fast courier aircraft during the early stages of the conflict.
