The Caudron-Renault CR.714 Cyclone was a lightweight fighter aircraft developed by Caudron-Renault for the French Air Force just before WWII. Derived from a series of successful racing aircraft, it featured a unique wooden construction to conserve strategic metals. Although it struggled with a limited climb rate and engine power, it was famously operated by the Polish “Warsaw” Squadron (GC I/145) during the Battle of France. Despite technical shortcomings, skilled pilots achieved several aerial victories with the CR.714 against superior Luftwaffe aircraft.
